- The sole aim of the NMVA is to recognize and reward particularly the outstanding creators of music videos i.e directors, editors, choreographers, cinematographers, producers and artistes among others.
- Eko Hotel & Suites has consistently played host to the Nigeria Music VideoAwards since inception
- Mr. Cally Ikpe, the CEO of Callivision Network is the Coordinator of the NMVA
- His urbane music entertainment programme Live Beats which also serves as Nigeria’s longest running music programme on television is largely responsible for propelling the NMVA
- The Most Popular Nigerian Music Video in the UK Category is coordinated by BEN TV London
- The NMVA statuette and symbol is called the Annabel

- Following the rancour which gave rise to violence and civil unrest in the south-south and other parts of the country that year, the platform of the second edition of the NMVA was used to sue for peace in Nigeria with the rider; PEACE …the only way!
- The NMVA’08 had in attendance veteran musicians; Sir Victor Uwaifo and Bongos Ikwue. The former was the only inductee into the hall of fame in that edition.
- A special tribute was paid to late elder Steve Rhodes, Oliver De Coque, Orlando Owoh, Evangelist Sunny Okosun and Sammie Needle, all heroes who died in that year
- The NMVA is Nigeria’s first ever music video awards

- 19 Categories were celebrated at the very first edition of the awards
- Charles Oputa, Philip Trimnel, Tunde Hyundeyin, and Kingsley Ogoro were all inducted into the NMVA hall of fame. Patrick Doyle was also accorded special recognition for his role in promoting indigenous videos during the hay days of video making in Nigeria, at that same edition.
